Audit Futures: Auditeen

Audit Futures, part of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), represents one of the most powerful sectors of society; the accountants and auditors who manage and maintain the businesses and financial institutions that control the flow of capital between organisations, communities and, ultimately, all of us. Open Design Studio is a design-led initiative of Audit Futures that brings together talent from a range of accounting firms and professional organisations with service designers to design radically new services that will be prototyped and developed to solve real social challenges and advance the role of the public interest in the profession.          The project aims to develop game-changing ideas that inspire collaboration and build trust. We will focus on priorities that work in the public interest and restore trust in business and institutions

MOTIVATION

01. The Future Role of Auditors
We have hold three workshops with auditing professions including current auditors and the educators. One of the most interesting topic on the table was the missing insights from the auditing report. Mostly the reports are useful for the investors and few more stakeholders related to the business, but 0 value for the general public. Even though the auditors have broad understanding, insights and opinion on a company, only the financial perspective is documented in the report.
It is pity that they couldn't contribute to the society with their great insights and understanding about the companies' social impact, responsibility and working environment, etc. I was looking those softer information which auditors have and trying to connect that to the teenagers as the future of our society.

02. Teenagers' Dream
For the teenage years, we start to draw our dreams and recognise values around us and there are definitely some channels for teenagers to be inspired such as the media, parents, external activities, volunteers, school course, role models, books, etc. However, when it comes to the auditing professions, there is no medium for children to dream that and even they don’t know what is auditor, as I had had no idea of auditing area before the project has been started.
The opportunity here is implanting the experience to understand auditing process and values at the earlier stage of their education.

AUDITEEN
Auditeen is an educational programme for teenage students within their school course. It allows to make a meaningful connection between the auditors, teenagers and the company so the students can have sense of business value and build their own world view.
