Let's Park

MOTIVATION
Camden is a very interesting area which has diverse people and cultural aspects. Four designers from Royal College of Art have developed a one-week intensive project for social housing areas that are a big part of the borough as they have their own society inside of the town.
Unfortunately, some of the community has an unharmonious relationship within the apartment mainly because of the noise issue from the little kids in the courtyard. Over time we realised that the noise pollution issue is not a real problem, but just a symptom of unsociable characteristic of the community. It has a various age population, diverse nationalities, and some people with mental illness, which discourage them to have a strong connection between residents even though they live in one village.

Another issue is the local assets. Camden has a lot of lovely parks and playgrounds, however parents in the social housing don't allow their children to play outside as they perceive only the courtyard is a safe place for their kids. The problem is that actually the courtyard is not the best place for their children as there are still many residents during the day time and even some of them has mental problem, so it is troublesome for both children and other residents.

In this context, they are in dire need of re-imagining their life pattern by utilising the local assets they have and building a new relationship with each other.

LET'S PARK
Let's Park is a localised service which connects social housing residents and local restaurant. Every weekend, Camden council organises the local restaurants to prepare some food based on their leftovers (but still fresh enough  to eat) to bring social housing residents to the nearest park so they can socialise with other community members and also let their children play outside.
